the MARRIAGE COURSE
We're so glad you're here and we hope this course will be a real help and encouragement to you in your marriage!
This course is created from audio recordings of sessions we originally presented in Qatar a few years ago. The content is practical and honest, and it’s shaped by our conviction that marriage really matters. The Bible begins and ends with a wedding, and Jesus chose a wedding to perform his first miracle. That tells us something. We believe marriage is close to God’s heart, and because of that, it’s close to ours too.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of seeing God breathe new life into struggling marriages. We’ve seen restoration, healing, and growth — and we believe the same is possible for you.
This course is built around key biblical principles that help make sense of how marriage is meant to work. It gives a framework — not rules to box you in, but boundaries that create safety and space to grow within. God’s design is both wise and good, and when we align with it, our relationships tend to flourish.
For each session, there’s a PDF to follow along with, and at the end of each one, we’ve included some discussion questions for you and your spouse. In our experience, those conversations are where the real treasure lies. Set aside the time. Be intentional. Life gets full, but your marriage is worth prioritising. Maybe even turn it into a regular date night — whatever works for you, just make space to connect and reflect together as you work through these questions.
Our hope and prayer is that as you journey through this course, you’ll discover not just helpful tools, but renewed vision, deeper connection, and fresh hope for your marriage.
With love,
Adrian and Antoinette Quinlivan

Session 2
Enjoying God’s blessing of intimate friendship. Growing through God’s shaping and correcting. The purpose of marriage is friendship and holiness. The Bible is clear that our journey towards greater holiness cannot be achieved alone. It’s achieved through Christian relationships… the most effective and significant of which is the deepest and most intimate friendship discovered in marriage.

Session 3
God instructs husbands to love their wives. God instructs wives to respect their husbands A wife has one driving need – to feel loved. A husband has one driving need – to feel respected. When these needs are met, the marriage relationship ‘sings’. When either or both aren’t met, the marriage relationship ‘groans’.

Session 4 part 1
God has ordained husbands to be servant leaders. God has ordained wives to be submissive helpers. Only in submitting to our divinely assigned gender roles do we discover that marriage is like a beautiful dance. When hot-button words like “headship” and “submission” are understood and applied correctly, with Jesus as the model for both, marriages can grow in their purpose.

Session 5 Part 1
God’s grace is there for us not only to receive, but also to extend to others; most significantly, our marriage partner. Self-centredness is the greatest enemy of marriages. Spirit-generated selflessness is the greatest ally. Only in God, and through his ongoing work in our lives, can we truly live like Jesus (putting the needs of the other ahead of our own).
