Charles van Remoortere, his wife Tania, and their son Victor are a 3Ci family who felt called to Malawi. To read more about how it happened, and what led to this point, click here.
(In Mzuzu, Malawi). Mark & Ronel Beckett received us with open arms, allowing us to settle our camper on the property where they’re staying (Sola Scriptura Bible College). We use one of their bathrooms, and share their kitchen daily. They made us feel at home immediately, and Victor has bonded with their two children, John Mark, age 9, and Sasha, age 12. The board members of Sola Scriptura have also very generously given us permission to stay on at the Bible College premises for as long as we need.
With friends like Mark and Ronel, we quickly got to know the town, its markets, the locals, the expats, the Christians, the religious and the worldly ones, all of whom God loves… And who all, and that’s not many, have no choice but to love each other out of bare necessity and survival!
In the process, we met Mac & Jolly Mhango. Definitely a God-appointed meeting! Mac was a local agricultural extension officer who started helping us find farming communities and Chalimbana ground nuts. Soon it became evident to Tania, Mark and I that he should join the team, and so Mac began working with us from the beginning of May.
Mark is a missionary and spreads the Gospel through the Foundation For Farming platform in the northern region of Malawi. He also joined the Chalimbana project to train the farmers to plant and harvest God’s way.
We started spying the land and it was good. We were privileged to find a second hand bakkie at a reasonable price, so I can run around the remote farming areas on these terrible roads without damaging Tania’s Pajero Junior!
The giants are there and scary too, but God… And so, taking hold of the promises He gave us, we’ve gone forward. Visit the website next week to read more about the Malawi Chalimbana project.
